US announces fresh sanctions against Belarusian enterprises

The U.S. sanctions will be active for two years starting from December 19, 2014.

On December 30, 2014, the US Department of State announced new sanctions against Belarusian company BelVneshPromService.

US authorities came to the conclusion that Belvneshpromservice violated the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act. In particular, as reported by nn.by, this means receiving or selling of goods, services and technologies subject to control under a variety of multilateral export control mechanisms (Australia Group, Wassenaar agreements, Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Missile Technology Control Regime, Nuclear Suppliers Group) or have the potential to contribute to the development of weapons of mass destruction or cruise or ballistic missiles.

Besides Belarusian companies, the sanctions were also applied to a number of natural and legal persons from Venezuela, Iran, China, North Korea, Russia, Syria and Sudan.

Sanctions will be in place for two years starting from December 19, 2014. By the way, Belvneshpromservice has periodically been under US sanctions since 2004.

Due to the sanctions, the company will not receive any help from the US, it will not have any contracts and it will not be sold ammunition.
