The Belarus president calls into increase trade with Russia's Baltic Sea enclave.
On December 1, Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with Kaliningrad region's governor Nikolai Tsukanov in Minsk. They spoke about the cooperation of our country with this Russian region. According to Lukashenka, the bilateral trade should be increased from $300 million to $500 million.
Also Alyaksandr Lukashenka once again spoke about speculations of the possible annexation of Kaliningrad region by Belarus.
Lukashenka: "Some of our enemies, including those in Russia (and in Belarus), are speculating that Lukashenka wants to attach the Kaliningrad region to Belarus. Believe me, I have no such plans."
At the same time, the head of Belarus noted that since the Soviet era Belarusians have not considered the Kaliningrad region a strange one, always helped it. "And it is not so important in what State the Kaliningrad region will be under such approaches," said the head of state.
According to Lukashenka, Belarus is ready to share with the Kaliningrad region its experience in land reclamation, help in the construction of facilities for the football World Cup planned for 2018, BelTA reports.
