The activist was found guilty of insulting a judge.

Charter97.org has learnt it from Maksim Viniarski, an activist of the European Belarus civil campaign.

“Rubtsou was found guilty of violating article 391 (insulting a judge or people's assessor) and sentenced to 2.5 years in an open-type correctional facility. The term was reduced by one year due to the amnesty. As a result, his term is 18 months,” the activist says.

The case was heard by judge Natallia Vaitsekhovich.

On April 28, the Savetski district court of Minsk heard an administrative case against Yury Rubtsou, who had been detained at the Chernobyl Way rally, which was permitted by the authorities. The activist made complaints during the trial, but the court ignored them. Judge Kiryl Palulekh interpreted Rubtsou's words as an insult.

On August 5, Yury Rubtsou was questioned in Minsk's Savetski district department of the Investigation Committee as a suspect in a criminal case over article 391 (insulting a judge).
