KGB tries recruiting Belarusian journalist

Euroradio

Brest journalist Yauhen Skrabets claims that KGB members tried recruiting him by promising him a flat when he was applying for a job.

Skrabets wanted to get the position of the head of the tourism, marketing and foreign economic activities in Brest autopark #1. However, the director of the autopark told the young man to talk to two people before applying for the job.

He was offered cooperation with KGB, Skrabets told Radio Liberty. They promised him a flat and the job he wanted for it. The young man was supposed to keep taking part in civil activities and to inform KGB members about new youth movements that could appear in Brest and about his Ukrainian acquaintances coming to Belarus, etc.

He refused to cooperate with the special services, Skrabets said.
