Belarusian Ministry of Defense declines to comment on the reports about the plans to deploy Russian strategic bombers at airfields in Belarus.
The information about the deployment of Russian strategic bombers Tu-160 in Belarus appeared todat in the internet, citing the Russian sources. The reports suggested that the Russian bombers would first take part in the military parade to mark the Independence Day of Belarus on July 3. They would later land at one Belarusian air bases.
Commenting Belapan news agency, Defense Ministry's spokesman Siarhei Kuzmiankou said: "We do not comment on rumors. We dhave no official information on this matter."
In early May, Belorusskaya voyennaya gazeta - the official printed mouthpiece of the Defense Ministry, reported that military airplanes would take part in the July 3 parade but did not mention TU-160 strategic bombers.
