[s]The Central Committee of the Belarusian Leftist Party "Just World" has addressed the Central Election Commission with a demand to annul registration of Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s initiative group.

Such a decision has been adopted by the Communists as, according to them, the Article 61 of the Electoral Code of Belarus had been violated. According to this article, the list of the initiative group should be submitted to the CEC by the contender personally. However, as mass media reported, and which was confirmed personally by the chairperson of the CEC Lidziya Yarmoshyna, the documents for registration of the initiative group were not submitted by the contender personally, but by Alyaksandr Radzkou, who had been appointed the head of the group for collection of signatures.

According to the leftists, excuses and references to the CEC for the practice of holding elections to local Soviets, are irrelevant, as the presidential election is held under different legal norms.

Thus, by registering the initiative group of Lukashenka, the Just World Party believes, the Central Election Commission had harshly violated requirements of Article 61 of the Electoral Code and placed him "in an exceptional position as compared to other persons who have intention to be nominated as candidates for presidency in Belarus."

"As requirements of the Electoral Code had been seriously violated when Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s initiative group was registered, we offer to annul the decision of the Central Election Commission to register this group," the address reads.

Beside the letter to the CEC, an application signed by the chairman of the party Syarhei Kalyakin has been filed to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus for response.

"For today, the group of citizen Lukashenka does not have a legal right to collect signatures of voters," Syarhei Kalyakin is convinced.
