Chairman of the United Civil Party initiates collective appeal to the Prosecutor General of Belarus Grigory Vasilevich in connection with Alexander Lukashenko’s statement about rigging the country’s last presidential election in 2006.

It should be reminded that in an interview, published in the Russian daily "Izvestia", Lukashenko said: "I gave the order for it to be not 93 percent, but something around 80, I can’t remember how much. Because when you get over 90, this is not accepted psychologically. But it was the truth". In November 2006 during the press conference with Ukrainian journalists in Minsk Lukashenko also said that last presidential elections were rigged.

"We can not ignore such statements in advance of new presidential campaign. We should demand to initiate a criminal case on the fact of rigging the vote, insist on adequate response from the international community and to call for resignation of Chairman of Central Election Committee Lidia Yermoshina and whose people who wrote false numbers in the protocols. This fact proves the need for substantial changes to the electoral legislation and law enforcement practice"- Anatoly Lebedko noted.

The Politician plans that the appeal to the Prosecutor General will be signed by 50 well-known citizens of Belarus.
