Since the beginning of 2013, the population of Belarus has grown by 1662 people, up to 9 million 465 thousand 500.
The National Statistics Committee states that natural decrease of population in January-September 2013 went down by 28% in comparison with the same time period last year, and reached 6 247 people. However, 7869 migrants came to Belarus this year and "recompensed the natural population loss". Thus, the population of Belarus has grown, informs Interfax-West.
Migrants from Russia and Ukraine come to our country for permanent residence most often.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka recently mentioned the positive tendency of the population growth in our country. He underlined that the authorities were very serious about the issue, "every person counts". "We don't need 10 million people, we need 20 million," the state leader said at the press-conference (see the video).
