3.4 percent voted on Tuesday in presidential election

As many as 3.4 percent of the eligible voters cast their ballots on December 14, the first day of the five-day early voting stage preceding December 19, the main voting day in Belarus' presidential election, according to the central election commission.

As Mikalay Lazavik, secretary of the central election commission, told BelaPAN, the first day's voter turnout was five percent in the Vitsyebsk region, 2.6 percent in the Brest region, 4.2 percent in the Homyel region, 3.1 percent in the Hrodna region, three percent in the Minsk region, 3.5 percent in the Mahilyow region and 2.6 percent in Minsk.

The official said that no complaints about the organization of early voting had so far come from either observers or voters.

Around three percent of the voters went to the polls on the first day of early voting in the 2006 presidential election.
