A presidential decree "On regulating of the national Internet segment usage" signed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka on February 1, 2010, has come into power today, informs BelaPAN.
According to the document, subjects distributing goods in Belarus (services and work) on the Internet, must be registered in Belarus. One more peculiarity of the decree is that providers of services of websites have to limit the access of their subscriber equipment to information considered to be deleterious. The information includes porn, propaganda of violence, cruelty and other actions forbidden by the legislation.
The decree is officially directed at protecting the interests of citizens, society and state in the information field, improving the quality and lowering the cost of Internet services and providing further development of the national segment of the Internet.
