Belarus seeks to expand industrial cooperation with China
Belarus counts on a considerable increase in the number of successful examples of Belarusian-Chinese industrial cooperation, given the Comprehensive Strategy for Joint Industrial Development signed during the state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China on 1 March 2023, Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov said during a meeting of the commission for trade and economic cooperation of the intergovernmental committee for cooperation between Belarus and China, BelTA learned from the press service of the Industry Ministry.

The deputy industry minister expressed confidence that with joint efforts the countries would be able to bring industrial cooperation to a new level by establishing joint productions in China and Belarus, expanding cooperation with Chinese companies for the supply of technological equipment (components, raw materials and supplies), and also upgrading Belarusian enterprises with the technology and competence of Chinese companies.

“The development of industrial cooperation with Chinese partners is in the focus of the highest attention of our state. The market of Chinese technologies and competencies has a great potential and is of great interest for the enterprises of the Belarusian Industry Ministry,” Aleksandr Yefimov said.

The manufacturing base of the Belarusian enterprises and high-tech competencies of Chinese companies helped improve the competitiveness of the Belarusian equipment in the markets of third countries, and also meet the domestic needs of Belarus, the deputy industry minister said. A number of Chinese developments are now at the stage of implementation and testing in the production of some Belarusian agricultural, mining and truck equipment. Belarusian companies are working on investment modernization projects with the focus on Chinese technology.

In general, organizations affiliated with the Belarusian Industry Ministry significantly expanded trade and economic cooperation with China over five years (from 2018 to 2022). This trend continues this year.

As BelTA reported earlier, a roadmap to implement the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Industry Ministry of Belarus and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products was signed in China on 2 June 2023. The document was signed by Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Yefimov and President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products Zhang Yujing.

On 3-4 June Aleksandr Yefimov is set to visit Chinese companies - manufacturers of agricultural machinery and vehicles with new energy sources to discuss the establishment of cooperation in the development of joint ventures, as well as further development of the supply of a wide range of technological equipment for the Belarusian organizations.
