Bankers And Businessmen Detained. Whereabouts Of Former Prime-Minister Unknown
Former Prime-Minister Sergei Rumas
The Belarusian security forces detained a group of former and current bankers, as well as representatives of commercial structures. Three independent sources confirmed this information to TUT.BY.

“Gennady Sysoev, top managers of Belagroprombank and representatives of commercial structures are talking to law enforcers. This is about some kind of corruption cases,” the sources said. Status of the detainees is unclear, as well as whether they are interrogated or questioned.

The sources note that the case concerns Former Prime Minister Sergei Rumas, who headed Belagroprombank more than ten years ago, and in 2012-2018 was the chairman of the board of the Development Bank. The whereabouts of Rumas are unknown.

“Sergei Nikolaevich is away from Belarus,” Zhanna Rumas told TUT.BY journalists. The wife of the ex-prime minister declined to comment on other issues. Gennady Sysoev [an acting director of OJSC Belarusian Forestry Company] is also unavailable allegedly “due to COVID-19”.

TUT.BY also failed to get a comment from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the KGB or the Investigative Committee.
