Russia will not revise the natural gas prices for Belarus in 2020, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told Interfax news agency.

In early April, Belarus President Aliaksandr Lukashenka asked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to reduce gas prices in light of the drop in prices at the world market. In the view of Lukashenka, "the price should be more adaptive."

Back then, the Kremlin replied through Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov that the issue would be studied.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak today insists the price is based on the contracts already signed by Minsk and Moscow. Under the deal, Belarus pays $127 per 1000 cubic meters of Russian natural gas.
