For The 1st Time In 10 Years! Belarusians To Get All Categories Of American Visas

Starting February 1, 2018 citizens of Belarus will be able to receive all categories of American visas at the US embassy in Minsk.
For the first time in ten years!
The Embassy of the United States in Minsk announced that beginning February 1, 2018, it will provide the full range of nonimmigrant services in Belarus.
“Starting February 1, Belarusian citizens and residents of any age may apply for any category of nonimmigrant U.S. visa.
For the first time in 10 years we are in a position to render such services in Minsk,” U.S. Charge d’affaires to Belarus Robert Riley said.
Earlier the Belarusians had to travel to the neighboring countries to apply for a visa.
Recall that after the conflict in 2008, the number of American diplomats in Minsk was reduced and the embassy began to issue visas only for certain categories of citizens.
For business or tourist visas (categories В1 / В2) Belarusians had to travel to the US embassies in Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, Warsaw, Kiev, Moscow.
In January this year the embassy expanded visa services in Belarus and reduced the age requirement for non-immigration visa applicants from 70 to 50 years.
The U.S. embassy in Belarus, given its limited resources, will not be able to accept applications from non-citizens or non-residents of Belarus.
“Our goal is to provide any applicant with an opportunity to visit the United States.
Most of the citizens that apply for a visa, get visas. Last year some 7,000-8,000 visas were issued to Belarusians,” representatives of the diplomatic mission stated.
Visa facts
The U.S. visa is issued for one year. The U.S. bases its maximum period of visa validity for Belarusians on the visa validity offered to American citizens who wish to visit Belarus.
The U.S. embassy believes it is important to start negotiations on the possible extension of the visa validity.
The cost of a tourist and business U.S. visa for Belarusians will be $160. The package of documents necessary for each type of the visa varies.
The tourist visa, however, has no fixed list of documents necessary for the presentation to the embassy. As a rule, a visa is issued within 2-7 days.
