About a hundred Chechens spent two days at the border check point Brest asking Poland to accept them as refugees. The big group of people left on the evening of August 30, human rights defender Raman Kislyak told BelaPAN. The Caucasian guests have sent an appeal to the Chechen diaspora in Poland hoping that it may help them.
About 200 Chechens gathered near the Check point Brest on August 29. They tried crossing the border by bus and by train (Brest-Terespol).
The people called themselves refugees and claimed that they had been living in Brest for a few months and had been trying to enter Poland every day. They want to leave their motherland because life is unbearable there, they said. More than a hundred of them spent the night near the border checkpoint.
