Russia blocked 360 tons of vegetables and fruit from Belarus

Russia stopped transit of foodstuffs from Belarus on 24 November on suspicion of re-export.

In the period from 24 to 27 November, Rosselkhoznadzor returned to Belarus more than 360 tons of European fruit and vegetables. It was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the management department of Bryansk and Smolensk regions.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, 19 batches of products from Poland and Greece in crossing points Krasnaya Gorka, Kruglouka and Krasny Kamen. The total weight of all the shipments amounted to more than 360 tons. According to the documents, products went to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

All the shipments were returned to the sender, since these points of prior notice are not checkpoints.

On 24 November Rosselhoznadzor stopped transit of plant products through Russia to third countries, including Kazakhstan. It was announced that the cause for this was the existing channels for illegal transfer to the Russian market of European fruit and vegetables. Meanwhile, in August Russia imposed an embargo on those goods.
