The expenses will be covered by an insurance company if the world ice hockey championship is boycotted or postponed.

The insurance agreement will be prepared by the directorate of the ice hockey championship-2014 and it will be signed with a Belarusian insurance company, interfax.by reports.

The measure is set out in Decree No 430 signed by the Belarusian president. Alyaksandr Lukashenka has also ordered in the same edict that the Minsk City Hall allow the championship's directorate to utilize Minsk-Arena and Chyzhouka-Arena free of charge from April 25 through May 31, 2014.

Those accredited by the organizers for the championship will be granted free rides on the public transport (except taxi) in Minsk.

Several foreign political, civil and sports activists have called to deprive Minsk of the right to host the championship and move the tournament to another country over Belarus' poor human rights record.
