Belarus had a national budget deficit of 2.3 trillion rubels ($236.4 million at the current exchange rate), or 0.4 percent of GDP, in 2013, reported the finance ministry.
The revenues of the consolidated budget (the national budget, local budgets and the Social Security Fund) totaled 266.9 trillion rubels, or 99.7 percent of the target for the year.
The national budget's revenues totaled 105.8 trillion rubels, 100.8 percent of the target for the year.
In particular, 56.2 trillion rubels came from value-added tax, or 100.8 percent of the target for the year; 21.5 trillion rubels from profit tax, or 100.7 percent of the target; 17.5 trillion rubels from excise taxes, or 100.6 percent of the target; and 23.3 trillion rubels from "external economic activities," or 100.6 percent of the target.
Contributions to the Social Security Fund totaled 77.9 trillion rubels, or 96.3 percent of the target for the year.
As of January 1, 2014, tax arrears stood at 65.7 billion rubels, 141.4 billion more than a month before.
The consolidated budget's expenditure totaled 265.9 trillion rubels, or 98.2 percent of the amount projected for the year.
The national budget's expenditure totaled 108.1 trillion rubels, or 99.6 percent of the amount projected for the year.
Public funds spent for financing the national economy amounted to 31.2 trillion rubels and funds spent for financing the “social sphere” (social welfare, education, public health, culture, sports and the media) to 156.7 trillion rubels.
As much as 45.6 trillion rubels, or 95.2 percent of the amount projected for the year, went toward "general state activities."
