April 1, 2010, Belarus’ gross foreign debt, according to the National Bank, reached $ 22.24 billion, which is 44.7% of GDP.During the first quarter of this year the external debt increased by $ 183.2 million (0.8%).The external debt of organs of government amounted to $ 4891.5 million, decreasing during the quarter by $ 32.6 million.The debt of monetary accommodation authorities increased during three months from $ 3,862.6 million to $ 4,493.4 million.The external debt of banks decreased by $ 65.8 million and amounted to $ 3,487.2 million.Direct investment totalled $ 779 million.Gross foreign debt per capita in Belarus totalled $ 2,348 thousand on April 1, 2010. As of January 1, 2010 the debt was $ 2,327 thousand.
