Belarus has turned out to have the lowest GDP growth rate in January among the seven CIS member countries that have reported GDP data to the CIS Statistics Committee.
With an increase of 1.3 percent, Belarus is behind Kyrgyzstan with 16.6 percent, Azerbaijan with 9.2 percent, Uzbekistan with 8.1 percent, Turkmenistan with 6.1 percent, Tajikistan with 4.2 percent and Armenia with 2.4 percent.
The other four CIS countries – Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Moldova – have not provided GDP data for January.
Belarus also placed last among 10 CIS member states in terms of industrial output growth in the first month of the year. With an increase of 2.5 percent, Belarus is behind Kyrgyzstan with 17.7 percent, Azerbaijan with 13.5 percent, Ukraine with 11.8 percent, Kazakhstan with 10.3 percent, Uzbekistan with nine percent, Russia with 7.8 percent, Armenia with 6.5 percent, Moldova with five percent, and Tajikistan with 3.2 percent. Data for Turkmenistan are not available.
