Lithuania stops purchasing electricity from Belarus

Lithuania has stopped purchasing electricity from Belarus, Delfi reports. This happened after the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP was included in the unified energy system of the country. On Tuesday, within the framework of the "anti-Astravets" law, the Lithuanian side established zero permeability for the commercial flow of electricity from Belarus.
Lithuania is concerned about the safety of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, built near the Lithuanian border. Because of this, Vilnius has repeatedly called on the official Minsk not to launch the station and warned that it would not purchase electricity from it.
Lithuania believes that the Belarusian NPP was built in violation of international requirements in the field of nuclear safety. The country's parliament has declared the station a "threat to national security." The Belarusian authorities strongly disagree with the position of the Lithuanian side.
