Belarus has applied to the European Union for financial assistance, Finance Minister Andrey Kharkavets told reporters in Minsk on Wednesday.
"We’ve sent an application in this respect and are now awaiting a reaction,"Mr. Kharkavets said. "I think that the answer will arrive very soon. Preliminary results will become known within 10 days."
The EU "has a mechanism for providing macroeconomic assistance," and its reply will depend on the stance of the International Monetary Fund, the minister noted.
According to him, Belarus seeks to get the assistance on regular terms and conditions. "The EU considers amounts in the context of the missing financing. Normally, it is two-thirds," he said.
