Seeing the world isn’t always kind to your bank balance. In Minsk you can live comfortably on less than £600 to make your money go further, the Business Insider reports.

Referring to Numbeo’s Cost of Living Index, the news site compiled a list of every European city where you can live on less than £600 a month putting the capital of Belarus in 17th place.

The monthly updated index takes into account multiple factors such as:
• the cost of groceries,
• eating and drinking out,
• travel, rent and utilities,
• spread-out and occasional splurges such as clothing and cinema trips.

Minsk is at 17th place with £542.51 a month.

A cup of cappuccino, on average, costs about BYN 3.26 (£1.23 or $1.64) and three-course hearty meal for two – BYN 67 (£25.20 or $33.72).

Those who are into local beer would be happy to know that a half a litre bottle will cost them just 1.60 Belarusian rubles (£0.60 or $0.81).

Monthly travel pass is about BYN 34 (£12.80 or $17.11). One bedroom apartment outside of city-centre, monthly rent will cost one BYN 460 Belarusian rubles (£173 or$231.52).

The top three cheapest cities are Kharkiv (£408.70), Lviv (£405.5) and Dnipro (£392.29) in Ukraine.

Recall that Minsk was named one of the cheapest cities for expats and places to work abroad, according to Mercer’s annual Cost of Living Survey.
