The Russian nuclear energy monopoly Rosenergoatom will buy the equipment manufactured for the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP by Atomstroiexport and use it at the Baltic NPP in Kaliningrad Oblast, interfax.by reports.

The reactor vessel Belarus refused from after it was dropped from several meters high will also be acquired.

The incident occurred on the night of July 10, 2016. The reactor vessel made for the Belarusian NPP slipped down from the height of a few meters and ‘touched the ground’, the NPP representatives said. The vessel was not damaged, Russian builders of the Belarusian NPP said.

However, Belarus decided to refuse from the equipment. Rosatom agreed to replace the reactor vessel but warned that it would impede the construction of the power unit. As a result, the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP will be launched in 2019 instead of 2018.

The construction of the Baltic NPP has been frozen until investors are found.
