Minsk authorities plan to raise the number of hotels from 49 to 60 by 2020, and expect the arrival of new global brands like Sofitel and Amara Hotel on the market.

At present there are 49 hotels and 6 hostels operating in Minsk. Altogether they provide 5.8 thousand rooms for 10,5 thousand guests.

By 2020, the number of hotels in the Belarusian capital should increase to 60 objects offering accommodation for 14 thousand people, Yury Natychko, the Head of the Hotel Services Department at Minsk City Executive Committee, told Minsk News agency.

The hotels of Novotel, Mercure, Sofitel and Amara Hotels brands are expected to appear in Minsk. The construction of the first two Accor (a French multinational hotel group) hotels is already underway. Less information is available about Sofitel and Amara Hotel.

Talks with Sofitel, Accor’s luxury hotel and resort brand, about a holel in Minsk were held in 2014. However, it’s not known what location might be offered to the brand.
