Number of layoffs exceeds number of employed by nearly 100 thousand in Belarus in 2016
Almost 669 thousand Belarusians were laid off from entreprises in 2016. The number of those employed is nearly 97.9 thousand less. September and October were the only two months when more people were employed than fired, TUT.BY writes.

In November, companies fired nearly 54.8 thousand employees, and employed 9.1 thousand less, according to the National Statistics Committee.

The spheres that lost most employees were construction (38.2% more employees fired that hired), industry (29.9%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (40.9% more layoffs than people hired).

The statistics does not inlude micro and small organizations.

More people were hired than laid off in the spheres of administrative services (+72.6%), as well as in the art, sports, entertainment and recreation spheres (+24.3%), information and communication (+21.8%), education (+18.9%), health and social services (+10.5%).

Since the beginning of the year almost 669 thousand Belarusians were laid off from entreprises. The number of those who found a new job is nearly 97.9 thousand smaller. Meanwhile, in January-November 2015 Belarusian companies lost almost 72.6 thousand specialists more than hired.

The economy of Belarus employed 4 million 383.3 thousand people in November 2016 – over 80 thousand fewer than a year ago.

Meanwhile, the official unemployment rate has been decreasing for the seventh month in a row.
