During a visit to JSC MAZ, the president said that investment in the Belarusian mechanical engineering would be provided only for specific markets. In addition, he said that the state would preserve a large share in the economy, but would reduce its support to large loss-making industrial giants. The Belarusian authorities do not consider the option of privatising large enterprises, rather make them socially responsible in terms of preserving high employment rates. The authorities count on recession to end soon and on Russian market to recover and increase demand for Belarusian industry products. In addition, amid falling popular ratings of public institutions, Lukashenka is forced to enhance propaganda activities and contacts with the population.
