Rates will be increased according to the resolution #70 of the Ministry of Economy, published on the National Legal Internet Portal on December 22.

Belarusians will have to pay more for travelling by urban and regional economy lines, regional lines of business-class, inter-regional lines, as well as baggage at all the above railway lines.

The decision will take effect on December 25, three days after the official publication. Earlier, the decision to raise the cost of railway travel was taken in March 2014 and November 2013. Then ticket prices rose on average by 30% and 27-50%, respectively, depending on the type of rail line.

Travelling cost in international trains, on the contrary, fell by 1.8%, the National Statistical Committee reports. Since October 15, the Belarusian Railways in coordination with the Russian Railways mutually reduced the passenger fare. Discounts, an average of 12%, will be valid until the end of 2015.
