The agricultural production sector in Belarus made over $600 million selling food products to Russia just in August-September 2014.

In total during August and September this year Belarus exported 610 mln worth of agricultural products. This is 7% higher than during the same period last year. BelaPAN learned it from the head of the Foreign Trade department of the Ministry of Agriculture Alyaksei Bahdanau. Compared to September 2013, shipments increased by 7%.

It is planned that in August-December 2014 enterprises belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture will supply Russia with $2 billion worth of agricultural products. Thus, the amount of foreign currency earnings from Belarusian agricultural and food products for the year may be close to $6 billion. In 2013, Belarus earned 200 million dollars less on exports of agricultural products and food.

Belarusian agriculture benefited from the August decree of Vladimir Putin, who banned the imports of food from the EU, US, Canada, Japan and Australia.
