US sanctions targeting Russian companies may help Belarus boost its exports, Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.
"As for sanctions against Russia, they have been imposed by US partner companies. I think it can open up some new additional niches for promoting our goods in Russia, which is the main trade and economic partner of Belarus," Mr Makey said.
Responding to the annexation of Crimea by Russia, Washington has barred American companies or individuals from doing business with Bank Rossiya, which has about $10 billion in assets and is owned by members of Russian President Vladimir Putin's inner circle.
In addition, US President Barack Obama has signed orders that would allow the United States to penalize key Russian industries.
